Trip to Orlando!

I forgot to mention in my previous post that Sofia's Momma Chenoa has a blog and has been blogging since she was put on bed rest so you can read about Sofia's journey in detail here!

Like I said in my previous post my friend Cory and I flew down to Orlando last weekend to celebrate Sofia's first birthday!  We woke up super early Saturday morning to catch a 7:45 am flight to Orlando, and I have to admit I was soooo excited about flying on an airplane! This was only my second flight in my entire life and the other one was to our honeymoon!  Yes I said it, I have on been on an airplane twice in my entire life! So yeah I was so excited and even more excited about seeing our long lost friends the Farsaci's!  Another exciting thing was that Cory, Jonathan and I had kept our little trip a secret from Chenoa so she had no idea we were coming.  The flight was easy and just a side note, if any of you guys have ever flown with Delta, you know those cookies they give you? Yeah I am obsessed they are sooooo good, so that was the highlight of my flight some delicious cookies and a much needed diet coke!

Once we arrived in Orlando Jonathan was there to pick us up and we headed back to their place.  When we  got to their house we snuck in behind Jonathan and y'all Chenoa's face was priceless.  I was so so so happy to see one of my dearest friends!  Once we got done hugging like a million times we sat on the floor and got reacquainted with little Miss Sofie!!  Oh my goodness y'all words cannot even describe how precious this little girl is I mean my heart could explode just thinking of her sweetness.  She seriously is the sweetest most mellow little girl, she is just so content and oh so lovable!  I kept saying she is like a little baby doll, I mean she is 14lbs of pure cuteness.  I instantly fell in love and once again Sofie had my heart!
So happy!

Sofia and Auntie Cory.

Oh yeah and I was super excited about seeing this little boy! Hurley aka Bugsy, this is Bella's bud from the dog park and he is the reason we met Chenoa and Jonathan so I pretty much love this little boy a ton, and he is such a good big brother to Sofie he is so gentle and patient with her!

We played for a little while and then we all packed up to head to a birthday party that Chenoa and Sofie already had plans to attend, yes we crashed a 1 year old's party.  The party was at a place called the little gym, its kind of like a Gymboree with all kinds activities for little ones.  Cory and I kept joking that we were the creepy barren women that creep around at parks and other kid friendly locations to drool and gawk at the babies hahaha.  Clearly we were joking, kind of ;)  Sofie had a blast and though she may have been one of the smallest little ones there she was not in the least bit intimidated by all the activities.
This is mine ok?

On the move!

Love love love this family!

Sup? Can't you see I'm busy playing.

Sofie and her NC Aunties!

After the party we ran some errands and headed home to prepare for Sofie's big party the next day.  By 11pm we decided to hit the hay, I was barley  hanging on, I had been awake since 4:30am and could barely keep my eyes open.
Getting all clean for her big party!

The next day we woke up got some last minute preparations in order and then it was party time!  Sofia's party was Alice in Wonderland themed and Jonathan and Chenoa did a fantastic job with everything, it looked amazing!  The party was great everyone had a great time, including Sofie who got her first taste of cake and lets just say she enjoyed it!  She also got tons and tons of toys and goodies from all her friends and family.

After the party we all relaxed and by relaxed I mean Jonathan and I watched football!!  We grilled out for dinner and spent time with Chenoa's parents.  We spent the rest of the evening playing with Sofie and soaking up every last minute with her!
Such a happy girl

I love you little peanut

what a difference a year can make

of course some last time snuggles from bugsy

By about 10pm we were all ready for bed and turned in for the night.  The next morning we were flying back home so we got our last snuggles and kisses and hugs in, and dropped the little peanut off with the nanny and then headed to the airport.  We reluctantly boarded our flight and headed back to NC, my sad mood was somewhat brighten by another serving of yummy Delta cookies and a Diet coke.  Hubby was there to pick us up at the airport and though I was sad to leave I could not wait to see him and one certain four legged little girl.

Our weekend in Florida was fantastic and so much fun!  You know those kind of friends that you can go a long time without seeing and as soon as you are back together you just pick up were you left off and it is like no time has passed at all?  Well that's what Chenoa and Jonathan are to us.  We have so much fun together and seriously laugh non stop, I love these guys so much!  Chenoa and Jonathan thank you so much for you hospitality last weekend we had such a great time and most of all loved spending time with you guys, we love you!

Tailgating recipe!

This is my go to tailgating recipe it soooo easy and everyone always loves it, I get asked for the recipe at least once every time I make it!  I have been making this since I was a teenager and I cannot remember where exactly I got it from.

What you will need:
8oz container of sour cream
one can of refried beans
one packet of taco seasoning
shredded cheese
any toppings you like.

In a shallow dish combine the sour cream and refried beans until mixed well.  Then stir in the taco seasoning. Top with shredded cheese and any other toppings.  You can really do what ever you want here, I usually keep it simple and leave it as is.  But you could top with bell peppers, olives, jalapenos, etc the variations are really limitless.  Also if you like it warm you could pop it in the oven and melt the cheese.

Sorry I don't have a pic, but heres the next best thing a tailgating pup! Go Panthers!

Sofia Isabella!

Like I said in my last post this past weekend was a very exciting weekend!! My friend Cory and I flew down to Orlando to celebrate our friend's Jonathan and Chenoa's little girl Sofia's first birthday! More on our weekend in another post, I want to spend this post giving the story behind Sofia's birth and why she is such miracle!
Michael and I met Jonathan and Chenoa at the dog park(thanks to Hurley and Bella).  We became fast friends along with another couple in our apartment complex, Cory and Ricky.  Upon learning that Jonathan and Chenoa wanted to start a family soon, I started encouraging ok really begging them to get pregnant.  I really enjoy playing with other peoples babies ha ha!  So when Chenoa and Jonathan told me they were pregnant in May 2011 I was beyond ecstatic.  That summer Jonathan and Chenoa decided they wanted to move back to Orlando to be closer to family when the baby was born, I was super bummed but totally understood.  Before their big move in September we found out that it was a girl, and we had a dinner celebration to celebrate the little princess on the way!

September came and it was almost time for them to move, we had one last ladies night on Tuesday night and prepared to say goodbye on Friday.  However Sofia had other plans and apparently she wanted to be a tar heel baby. Wednesday afternoon I got a call from Jonathan, one of the most terrifying phone calls I have ever received   He told me that they were being admitted to the hospital immediately  Chenoa's cervix was on the verge of dilating and her amniotic membranes were bulging.  I remember praying out loud to the Lord that he would protect Chenoa and her little baby girl, Chenoa was only 23 weeks at this time and me being a nurse I knew this was way to soon for the baby to come 23 weeks is barely on the cusp of viability.  That week we all did whatever we could to help Jonathan and Chenoa, they were planning on moving that weekend so we all helped load up there stuff and Jonathan's dad drove it all down to Florida.  Chenoa spent two weeks on bed rest in the hospital and endured magnesium treatments (which are pretty terrible) and steroid shots.

On Thursday September 29th I received another phone call from Jonathan telling me that Chenoa's water had broken and they were moving her to labor and delivery.  I rushed to the hospital I clearly remember doing about 80 on the highway to get to her.  I spent the day by her side as she endured yet another magnesium treatment, her contractions were consistent but not very close together throughout the day.  It was pretty much a waiting game to see if labor would progress, around dinner time Chenoa's mom got there, we all had dinner and then Cory and I decided to head home for the evening.  Later that evening Jonathan sent a text saying that contractions had picked up and that Chenoa's had spiked a fever so it looked like Sofia was coming soon.  I remember sleeping with one eye open waiting for my phone to buzz with more updates.  Around 3 am I got a text saying Sofia Isabella Farsaci was born weighing 1lb 9oz at just over 25 weeks gestation.  Jonathan said both her and Chenoa were doing well, it was a little bit of a relief but I knew we had a very long road ahead of us.

Chenoa was discharged two days later and if you remember they had moved out of their place two weeks earlier so they came to live with us for a few months while Sofia was in the NICU.  Michael and I were so glad we were able to do this for them and not only did they not move away but they moved in with us!!
Since Chenoa didn't have a car I had the privilege of getting to go to the NICU often and watch Sofia grow and amaze us.  The doctors kept telling us she is doing great but to be prepared there were numerous complications that could come up.  But over and over Sofia beat the odds and continued to grow and become stronger and stronger.

Sofia's first Halloween costume, little forggy!

My first time holding her, JOY!

Finally December came and Christmas was just around the corner and we all were hoping Sofia would make it home for Christmas.  Sure enough Sofia was released just in time for Christmas and they flew home on Christmas eve, talk about the best present ever!  It was definitely bittersweet, we finally had to say goodbye to our friends and this tiny little girl who had quite the grip on my heart.  However we were so happy that they finally had their little girl in their arms permanently and could finally be close to family.
Getting so big!

Taking big girl bottles!

My last day in the NICU with my little peanut.

Uncle Michael saying bye to Sofia!

The Lord has shown me His love, grace and power through Sofia's life and I am so grateful that I got to witness this miracle!
Now here we are one year later, Sofia turned one on Sunday, I cannot believe how fast this year has gone and I am so happy I got to be there to celebrate with her in person.

Happy Birthday Sofia Auntie Tessa and Uncle Michael love you more than you will ever know!

Don't worry I will have a whole other post about our weekend in Orlando with lots and lots of pics!

Happy Birthday Daisy Mae!

Today is my first baby girl Daisy Mae's birthday! Daisy is my childhood dog that lives back in Charlotte with my daddy.  As I had mentioned in this post, when I was little I wanted a dog for years and finally when I was in sixth grade my dad gave in and decided to get me a dog for Christmas.  I will never forget that day, we drove down to the Union County animal shelter and we spotted this precious brown eyed puppy and it was instant love.  From that day on Daisy Mae and I were inseparable!  I have so many wonderful memories with   Daisy, so when the time came for me to move out and get married it was beyond difficult.  I remember multiple times during the months before the wedding where I would just sit and cry thinking about having to leave her.  Why didn't I bring her with me you ask?  Well my dad lives on 100 acres and that's all she has ever known, so to take her away from that and move her into a small one bedroom apartment just didn't seem right.  Plus don't be fooled I wasn't the only one slightly attached to Daisy, my Dad was too so I couldn't have him lose both is girls.  So Daisy stayed back with my Dad and she is still happy on the farm, where she is loved on by my dad and all of our neighbors, she is kind of like the neighborhood dog!
So I just wanted to take the time to wish my little girl a happy birthday, I cannot believe she is 15!  Daisy will always be my first baby girl! We love you hound dog!
