A trip down Halloween memory lane

Since Halloween is just around the corner I thought I would share some pictures from Halloweens in the past. We did good our first Halloween as a married couple and dressed in coordinating costumes but the past two Halloweens Michael and I got a little lazy and failed to dress up but we made sure Bella was dressed for the occasion! So without further adieu, pictures of Halloween past.

Bella and I are headed to a Halloween party this weekend and have coordinating costumes this year, unfortunately Michael can't join us as I mentioned before his thesis defense is TUESDAY(AHHH) so he will be working :( I will be sure to share pics of Bella and I sometime next week! Happy Halloween!

NC State Fair

First off let me apologize to my blog for being absent for so long! We are 9 days away from Michael's thesis defense(eeekkk) and life is crazy.  Michael has been working insane hours and pretty much only takes a break to eat dinner and then he is back to work.  I guess this isn't an excuse for me being absent but since Michael isn't around much I don't really do much haha!

However he did take a break for a much needed trip to the NC State Fair!  Like I have said before it is one of my most favorite events of the year! Fired food, rides, games, animals, crisp fall weather it doesn't get much better I tell ya! So Thursday evening Michael and I met our friends Will and April for some fair fun.  We first hit up the small "petting zoo"(you couldn't touch the animals so it wasn't really a petting zoo) where we saw pigs, cows, chickens you know the normal farm animals.

Little baby piggy, melt my heart.

Then it was time to hit up the fried food section.  So the guys decided that they needed to try the Krispy Kreme burger!  Yes I just said Krispy Kreme BURGER, its a cheese burger with bacon sandwiched between two glazed Krispy Kreme doughnuts.  Now I know what you are thinking ummmmm YUCK!  Bet let me tell you it was rather delectable, it was the perfect mixture of salty and sweet.  I decided on a more tame Corn dog and April feasted on a gyro.

Hello!!!!

First bite

Verdict: AWESOME

The guys and their food

Once we filled our bellies our gracious friends shared that they had tons of ride tickets that needed be used and needed our help to use them! So we jumped on a handful of super fun rides, might I add that some of them were a little out of  my comfort zone( I'm deathly afraid of heights) but I put on my brave face and ended up having a blast!
Riding my favorite, the pirate ship

Here we GO

This might be the ride that was a little out of my comfort zone.

April and Will

On first glance you might think awww how romantic but if you look closer you can see my death grip and just a tad bit of terror.

After we rode a few rides Michael and I decided it was time! Time for the one thing that we really come to the state fair for........fried snickers bars!  I know I know so unhealthy but hey it only comes around once a year and I promise to eat salads for the rest of the week, once I finish off this pizza we had for lunch ;).  We headed over to our beloved fried candy bar stand ordered our snickers and enjoyed a moment of heaven! Seriously y'all a-mazing, imagine a warm melted gooey snickers wrapped in a funnel cake your drooling aren't you?

Once we returned to earth, we realized we had tickets for one more ride and we decided on the Ferris Wheel, I mean its not a trip to the fair if you don't ride the Ferris Wheel.  As we were walking the fire works started and we stopped to watch the show and then continued on to the Ferris Wheel.  After our last ride it was nearly 11pm and we were all ready to head home!

We just love the State fair

The view from the Ferris Wheel.

Once again the fair did not disappoint  good food, rides and even better company.  Thanks Will and April for coming with us and for sharing your ride tickets we had such a blast!  Hopefully next year we can make a trip down to the Fair from VA.  Heck maybe we can try out the VA state fair as well!

If you guys think about it say a little prayer for my man, he will be defending his thesis on the 30th and has to have his 100+ page paper turned in this Tuesday   He is doing amazing and I am blown away by his diligence   but just pray for peace of mind and stamina for him, it is definitely not easy.

Favorites!

I wanted to share with you guys some of my favorite beauty products.  I by no means am an expert and honestly as much as I would love to be this glamorous fashionista I just love sweats way to much, but every once and a while I can get all gussied up!

So here are my must haves:

Oranix moroccan argan oil body lotion:  this stuff is amazing, I found it this summer and fell in love.  It makes your skin super soft and is not greasy at all! Oh yeah and it smells amazing
Fekkai Glossing Shampoo and Conditioner: my cousin Jordan first bought this and when I tried some of hers I was hooked!  It makes my hair so shiny and soft.  It is pretty pricey and honestly I wouldn't buy it for myself but Jordan being the awesome person she is, bought it for me for my birthday!!

Two faced Natural eye shadow palette:  I suck at make up, its just a fact.  But ever since I discovered this stuff I am somewhat mediocre.  I love the colors, I'm not big on bright colors I'm pretty neutral when it comes to make so this is perfect.  However it also has some sparkly and darker colors for when you are feeling a little daring! Oh yeah and it also has little inserts with instructions on how to do different styles. I def need instructions.

Chi flat iron:  So I have been in love with Chi for almost 3 years and we are still going strong. I used to use the cheap flat irons for like twenty bucks from target, until I met this beauty and I will never go back.  It straightens and smooths my hair so well and quickly.

So there you have it my beauty favorites, like I said they are pretty basic because I am far from a beauty queen.

What are some of your favorites?

Trip to Orlando!

I forgot to mention in my previous post that Sofia's Momma Chenoa has a blog and has been blogging since she was put on bed rest so you can read about Sofia's journey in detail here!

Like I said in my previous post my friend Cory and I flew down to Orlando last weekend to celebrate Sofia's first birthday!  We woke up super early Saturday morning to catch a 7:45 am flight to Orlando, and I have to admit I was soooo excited about flying on an airplane! This was only my second flight in my entire life and the other one was to our honeymoon!  Yes I said it, I have on been on an airplane twice in my entire life! So yeah I was so excited and even more excited about seeing our long lost friends the Farsaci's!  Another exciting thing was that Cory, Jonathan and I had kept our little trip a secret from Chenoa so she had no idea we were coming.  The flight was easy and just a side note, if any of you guys have ever flown with Delta, you know those cookies they give you? Yeah I am obsessed they are sooooo good, so that was the highlight of my flight some delicious cookies and a much needed diet coke!

Once we arrived in Orlando Jonathan was there to pick us up and we headed back to their place.  When we  got to their house we snuck in behind Jonathan and y'all Chenoa's face was priceless.  I was so so so happy to see one of my dearest friends!  Once we got done hugging like a million times we sat on the floor and got reacquainted with little Miss Sofie!!  Oh my goodness y'all words cannot even describe how precious this little girl is I mean my heart could explode just thinking of her sweetness.  She seriously is the sweetest most mellow little girl, she is just so content and oh so lovable!  I kept saying she is like a little baby doll, I mean she is 14lbs of pure cuteness.  I instantly fell in love and once again Sofie had my heart!
So happy!

Sofia and Auntie Cory.

Oh yeah and I was super excited about seeing this little boy! Hurley aka Bugsy, this is Bella's bud from the dog park and he is the reason we met Chenoa and Jonathan so I pretty much love this little boy a ton, and he is such a good big brother to Sofie he is so gentle and patient with her!

We played for a little while and then we all packed up to head to a birthday party that Chenoa and Sofie already had plans to attend, yes we crashed a 1 year old's party.  The party was at a place called the little gym, its kind of like a Gymboree with all kinds activities for little ones.  Cory and I kept joking that we were the creepy barren women that creep around at parks and other kid friendly locations to drool and gawk at the babies hahaha.  Clearly we were joking, kind of ;)  Sofie had a blast and though she may have been one of the smallest little ones there she was not in the least bit intimidated by all the activities.
This is mine ok?

On the move!

Love love love this family!

Sup? Can't you see I'm busy playing.

Sofie and her NC Aunties!

After the party we ran some errands and headed home to prepare for Sofie's big party the next day.  By 11pm we decided to hit the hay, I was barley  hanging on, I had been awake since 4:30am and could barely keep my eyes open.
Getting all clean for her big party!

The next day we woke up got some last minute preparations in order and then it was party time!  Sofia's party was Alice in Wonderland themed and Jonathan and Chenoa did a fantastic job with everything, it looked amazing!  The party was great everyone had a great time, including Sofie who got her first taste of cake and lets just say she enjoyed it!  She also got tons and tons of toys and goodies from all her friends and family.
**Warning picture overload**
Some one on one time with the Birthday girl before her party.

After the party we all relaxed and by relaxed I mean Jonathan and I watched football!!  We grilled out for dinner and spent time with Chenoa's parents.  We spent the rest of the evening playing with Sofie and soaking up every last minute with her!
Such a happy girl

I love you little peanut

what a difference a year can make

of course some last time snuggles from bugsy

By about 10pm we were all ready for bed and turned in for the night.  The next morning we were flying back home so we got our last snuggles and kisses and hugs in, and dropped the little peanut off with the nanny and then headed to the airport.  We reluctantly boarded our flight and headed back to NC, my sad mood was somewhat brighten by another serving of yummy Delta cookies and a Diet coke.  Hubby was there to pick us up at the airport and though I was sad to leave I could not wait to see him and one certain four legged little girl.

Our weekend in Florida was fantastic and so much fun!  You know those kind of friends that you can go a long time without seeing and as soon as you are back together you just pick up were you left off and it is like no time has passed at all?  Well that's what Chenoa and Jonathan are to us.  We have so much fun together and seriously laugh non stop, I love these guys so much!  Chenoa and Jonathan thank you so much for you hospitality last weekend we had such a great time and most of all loved spending time with you guys, we love you!
